Tulips have a rich history dating back to the 16th century, when they were first brought to the Netherlands from the Ottoman Empire. In the 17th century, tulips were so sought after among our country's wealthy that they were found only in our country's richest gardens. Fortunately, tulips are now a lot less pricey and are still loved by young and old alike!
Why choose tulips from Natural Bulbs?
Organic: We believe in a healthy nature and want to preserve it to the best of our ability. All tulip bulbs from Natural Bulbs are grown 100% organically without the use of artificial fertilisers or pesticides. This is better for soil, nature, people and animals. But above all, it delivers really beautiful tulips! Lots of choice: We offer a very wide range of tulip varieties. From stately tall tulips to the small naturalising forest tulips. From classic single tulips to spectacular double and fringed varieties. Whether you opt for the bright white 'Royal Virgin', the fiery 'Red Impression', or the elegant purple 'Purple Prince', there is always a tulip that suits your garden perfectly. Or several of course... Easy to plant: Tulip bulbs are easy to plant and require little maintenance. Plant them in autumn, from September to December, before the first frost sets in. Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-drained soil, and plant the bulbs at a depth of two to three times the height of the bulb. Give them a little water after planting and wait patiently for the magic of spring.
Tips for a colourful tulip border
Mix and match: For a dynamic and playful effect, mix different tulip varieties and colours. For example, plant tulips with different flowering times so that you have a prolonged flowering period. Combine early bloomers like our crocuses or the 'Praestans' with late bloomers like Alliums or the 'Salmon Impression' for a continuous explosion of colour. Between perennials: Tulips are the perfect complement to perennials in your garden. Plant them among the low-growing foliage of plants such as geraniums. Once the tulips have finished flowering, the perennials take over and cover the wilting leaves of the tulips. In pots and containers: No garden? No problem! Tulips also do great in pots and containers on your balcony or terrace. Use the 'lasagna method' by planting several layers of bulbs for a whole spring of blooms. Find more lasagna tips here.
